DESCRIPTION:Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Drop by the Fuqua Conservatory lobby to watch the conservation team tend to the rare and endangered amphibians on display at the Garden. The frogs jump into action when presented with their meals\, and an amphibian specialist is available to answer questions about these captivating creatures. \nPublic frog feedings allow visitors to observe one of the most interesting aspects of these amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs have long sticky tongues that shoot out at prey. Some\, like Poison Frogs\, are able to do this with such incredible speed and accuracy that all visitors notice are flies disappearing. Others\, like the Splendid Leaf Frog\, are dramatic feeders and hardly use their tongues at all\, but rather stuff the crickets into their mouths with their hands.

This focus makes him exceptionally well-suited to cooking for all of our guests\, but particularly those with dietary restrictions\, as he shapes their dishes to accommodate their needs while still satisfying their hunger for a memorable meal.  \n \nMark Alba\, The Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails and Aveline Bar\, Lounge & Patio \nBefore joining us\, Chef Alba served as executive chef of some of Atlanta’s most beloved and noteworthy restaurants\, including 5Church\, The Optimist\, STK\, and JCT Kitchen. He also brings a wealth of experience working on private and semi-private events\, thanks to stints leading the kitchens at The St. Regis Hotel and Legendary Events. DESCRIPTION:Learn to make your own fermented condiments- from ketchup\, mustard and relish\, to hot sauce\, salsa and more- with Contraband Ferments. Get the history and science behind fermentation\, as well as the basic principles to make your own delicious\, probiotic-rich condiments and sample a few in the Edible Garden Outdoor Kitchen. \nCheryl Paswater is the Chief Fermentationist of Contraband Ferments and Functional Medicine Practitioner as well as an educator\, health coach\, sous chef\, artist\, and writer. She previously co-organized the NYC Ferments Meetup and NYC Fermentation Festival. She has been a contributing writer for Edible Magazine as well as a contributor to the book “Miso\, Tempeh\, Natto” and is currently working on her first book on fermentation.  \n \nCheryl Paswater\, Contraband Ferments \nYou can find her teaching workshops and speaking on fermentation and health at in person workshops\, online classes\, and at festivals both regionally and internationally.
