Perennial Garden

The oldest part of the Garden, between Gardenhouse and The Orchard, is the Perennial Garden. Several trees that are believed to have rooted in the ground from pots left when the city operated its greenhouses on the site still stand. Plantings closer to Gardenhouse focus on contrast between bold and fine texture, while those at the sunnier center are bold and colorful, intended to draw visitors to the perennial borders. An Atlanta City Champion Piedmont Azalea and large Katura tree, as well as many hydrangeas, call the Perennial Garden home.

Accenting the plantings are a number of sculptures and water features, including Sibley Fountain and Frog Baby, a statue by Edith Parson on permanent loan from the High Museum of Art.
