Laurie Blackmore, M.S.
Research areas: Conservation, non-timber forest products, women in development, alternative income sources, international conservation strategies
Laurie received her B.S. in Forestry from the University of Washington, then spent three years in Guinea, west Africa in the Peace Corps volunteering in agroforestry and women-in-development programs. She returned to the United States and the University of Idaho, where she was awarded a M.S. in Forestry, focusing on non-timber forest products. Laurie has worked for the USDA Forest Service in its National Forest, International Forestry, and Research Station divisions, and worked for international non-profit organizations focusing on conservation and sustainable development in the United States and Africa. She is passionate about conservation and finding ways to support human and natural systems sustainably.
