Qiansheng Li, Ph.D.

Research interests: in vitro conservation and cryopreservation of endangered plants, plant tissue culture, plant propagation

As a research scientist of in vitro conservation, Li's research concentrates on developing plant tissue culture protocols and cryopreservation programs to support ex situ conservation of rare or endangered species. He has been working on the germplasm collection, propagation, and ex situ conservation of rare or endangered oaks for 15 years. He has developed many micropropagation protocols for endangered species and economically important horticultural plants.

Qiansheng obtained his Ph.D. in horticulture from Nanjing Agricultural University and did post-doctoral research at the University of Florida and Texas A&M University. He also has rich experiences in plant propagation through seeds and cuttings, nursery production, soilless culture, and related plant physiology of horticultural plants.
